ABOUT

House of handquilting

Hey there!

Hi! My names Coby. High school art teacher by day, quilter by night, 24/7 mother and wife. Oh and I'm a *little* obsessed with quilting.

I came to quilting as a teenager with a newly gifted sewing machine, a heap of enthusiasm and a mentality of "how hard can it be?!"

The history of women and quilting is a richly woven from threads of creativity, resilience, and community. Quilting has served as both an artistic expression and a practical necessity, particularly among women. In the early days, quilts were often created from scraps of fabric, telling stories of family and heritage.

As communities formed, quilting bees became popular social gatherings where women shared techniques, passed down traditions, and strengthened bonds. Today, the quilting community is digital and global, uniting women (and men!) across generations and cultures in a shared passion for fabric and storytelling.

My goal is to keep the tradition alive and continue to share the knowledge of quilting, techniques and the love of fabric!
